Reliable microplastic analysis places high demands on both the filtration substrate and analytical method. This Application Note evaluates metal-coated i3 TrackPor membranes for Raman microspectroscopy. Gold- and aluminum-coated polycarbonate membranes provide an exceptionally smooth, two-dimensional surface while reducing interfering substrate signals. The results demonstrate high identification quality for key polymers including PE, PP, PET, PS and PVC. In particular, gold-coated TrackPor C membranes provide an exceptionally flat spectral baseline, supporting reliable and efficient automated Raman analysis.
